Acne is the scientific term for what we normally call pimples, blackheads, whiteheads or nodules that form on the face, chest, upper back or shoulders. Acne sufferers experience persistent, recurring reddish blemishes on the face, chest, shoulders, neck, upper back or buttocks. Acne is an inflammatory disease of the skin. It is a disorder of the skin’s pilosebaceous unit, which consists of an oil gland (sebaceous gland) and a canal (pore) that contains a hair called a follicle. Acne is primarily a hormonal condition driven by male hormones, which typically become active during the teenage years. Sensitivity to such hormones ?

Acne is very common – nearly 17 million people in the US are affected by this condition. Acne most often begins in puberty. Acne is a skin disorder associated with one and all. It knows no discrimination on the basis of caste or creed. Acne is not just a teenage problem as cases of Adult Acne are on the increase. Adult acne eruptions usually occur along the jaw line and chin and are typically stubborn, under the skin cysts.

Acne is not just a condition affecting teenagers. Although many people experience acne during their adolescent years, people in their twenties often report having the condition. Acne is characterized by pimples, cysts, and sometimes abscesses. Both cysts and abscesses are pus-filled pockets, but abscesses are somewhat larger and deeper. Acne is usually located on the face but may spread to involve the shoulder, back and chest.

Acne is not caused by dirt or surface skin oils. The best approach to hygiene and acne : Gently wash your face twice a day with a mild soap, pat dry–and use an appropriate acne treatment for the acne. Acne is not caused by dirt. This misconception probably comes from the fact that blackheads look like dirt stuck in the openings of pores. Acne is probably the world’s most common skin condition. Almost everyone experiences some acne problems between the ages of 11 and 17.

Blackheads generally last longer because they are slower at releasing their contents. Persons who squeeze or ‘pick’ at their skin cause the pores to rupture. Blackheads are not caused by dirt. Removing blackheads will prevent pimples. Blackheads, also known as “open comedones,” are the mildest form of acne. These occur when sebum combines with skin pigments to plug the pores.

Wash it off with warm/hot water and pat your face dry with a towel. Pop any white heads you have and then apply rubbing alcohol to the affected area. Wash your hair everyday. Any hair grease that rubs on your your skin can make your acne worse. Wash your packs, put it in freezer, put BP gel in fridge.
Wash once or twice a day, including after exercising. However, avoid excessive or repeated skin washing.
