Asthma directly affects the lungs of the sufferer. Commonly, it is a long-term disease in children. It leads to wheezing, breathlessness, tightness in the chest and coughing during nighttime or early in the morning.

Medicine for asthma generally comes in two types, one is quick relief and other is long-term control. Quick relief medicines are taken as soon as the first signs of an asthma attack are noticed to provide immediate relief. It is recommended that if one is taking more and more of quick relief medicines; then he/she must ask the health care provider to change the asthma management plan. On the other hand, due to long-term control medicines, the sufferer will have fewer as well as milder asthma attacks. But they cannot help if someone is already having an attack.
