Hair laser remover machines come in two varieties – hair laser removers designed for commercial reduction of hair with laser use, and those that are intended for personal use in the home.

How Hair Laser Removers Work

Hair laser removers, regardless of whether they are intended for commercial use or home use, all function based on the same basic principle. Concentrated beams of laser rays or of focused light are targeted at your skin. These beams travel harmlessly through your skin and the energy is absorbed by your root cells from which your hairs grow. The root cells are then disabled by the heat, in ideal situations bringing about the reduction of hair permanently, so that no more hair will sprout. In practise only a certain percentage of your hairs’ root cells will be disabled, so the resulting hairlessness will not be complete. Often successful professional laser treatment can rid a body part of up to 80% of your hairs.

Commercial vs. Home Products

Mostly, these laser machines are designed for medical or professional cosmetic use only. There are highly sensible reasons for this – lasers are powerful tools that can cause serious harm to sensitive human organs and skin – the eyes in particular. So complying with strict safety procedures is critical, and the correct training is necessary in order to perform laser hair removal effectively and safely.

Some home laser hair removal machines continue to be marketed but most of these are simply not potent enough to give patients the desired long-term reduction of hairs that can be successfully obtained using medical or professional cosmetic lasers for hair removal.

The Tria Laser Hair Remover machine

A newly-launched home hair laser remover, the “Tria”, is the first machine to receive FDA clearance to be sold over the counter for the reduction of hair permanently.

Backed by several years of scientific studies, the Tria is produced by a reputable company that seems to be abstaining from unrealistic claims.

Extensive scientific studies show that clients can expect a reduction of about a third in hair growth a year after treatment, as opposed to around 80% for clients treated with the professional equipment used by doctors.

Hair Laser Remover Devices: Conclusion

Which type of hair laser remover you should focus on finding depends on your main goals for laser hair removal treatment. If you don’t like the idea of having laser treatment at a laser hair removal clinic (perhaps you are too shy to have a stranger perform this kind of laser treatment for you), then you should investigate the options for laser hair removal in the privacy of your home. On the other hand if you are happy to use a clinic then you are likely to be treated with a more powerful hair laser remover appliance, with potentially better and longer-lasting results.
