It’s one of those annoying conditions which can seem to crop up despite the most diligent preventative measures. It’s yeast infection and while the majority of contaminations are not serious, it still needs to be watched because unchecked, it could lead to major complications.
A yeast infection cure is interesting simply because the word cure may not be the best term to use. In women, candida bacteria can exist in a natural state in the vaginal region and there is always the chance it can grow and multiply leading to an infection. That’s why good hygienic practice is strongly encouraged to keep it in check.
Some of the more irritating symptoms include a discharge, a burning and itching sensation and odor. These symptoms should be confirmed by a doctor especially if you haven’t suffered them before because assuming you have yeast infection can be a dangerous practice especially if you try and treat the issue yourself.
What Is Yeast Infection
Before discussing yeast infection cures, it is important to know what they look like so that you can correctly identify your annoying little condition. Normally, your vaginal area contains a number of good yeast cells called vaginal flora. Within these cells, live good bacteria that are known as lactobacillus acidophilus.
If those big, fancy words sound familiar, it is because this is the same active culture that is found in yogurt. An infection occurs when this good yeast and bacteria is overrun by other yeast cells, usually called Candida albicans. When this yeast takes over, the result is the itching and odor that you quickly learn to know and dislike greatly.
Okay, time for the yeast infection cure. Once these all too familiar symptoms have reared their ugly little heads, it is time for some action. Your first choice may be a wait and see approach, if you are familiar enough with yeast infections to diagnose your own condition accurately and the infection doesn’t appear to be severe.
To ease the itch during this time, you can dab the area with apple cider vinegar, apply a bit of plain yogurt or use an over the counter remedy from the pharmacy. Keep the area dry and clean, by wearing only cotton underwear and changing immediately after working out or swimming.
If the “wait and see” approach doesn’t do it for you, there are more proactive steps that you can take.
Natural yeast infection cures include the apple cider vinegar and yogurt applications, as well as over the counter product such as Monistat.
