Reduce Calories in Your Diet to lose weight

Would you like to lose a few pounds? Well, losing weight is not as hard as you think. It’s really not. It’s simply a matter of burning more calories than you take in. If you can exercise regularly that will help, but cutting calories will help, too. And that’s not as hard as you might imagine.

Approximately 3500 calories equals one pound. That means if you reduce your caloric intake by 1000 calories per day, you will lose two pounds per week.

But does 1000 calories sound like a lot? It’s really not. Here are some simple ways you can cut calories from your daily diet. You won’t even have to feel hungry.

What You’ll Need:

Low calorie food choices

Stop drinking soda. One can of Coke has 140 calories. Now, diet soda has no calories, but it’s not a good substitution for regular soda. Studies have shown that the artificial sweetener makes people hungry and makes them crave sweets, which will not help you lose weight. Try something like water with lemon or lime, or unsweetened iced tea instead.

Switch from whole milk to skim. You’ll save 65 calories and eight grams of fat with every cup.

Eat your fruit, don’t drink it. One whole orange only has 50 calories, but an eight-ounce glass of orange juice has 112 calories.

Trade the potato chips for popcorn. One ounce of potato chips has about 155 calories, and that’s not very many chips, either. On the other hand, one cup of unbuttered popcorn only has about 30 calories.

Use light margarine instead of real butter. One tablespoon of real butter has 100 calories, but one tablespoon of light margarine only has about 40 calories.

Buy light sandwich bread, too. The calories will vary depending on the brand you buy, but a regular slice of sandwich bread has about 70 calories, while a slice of light sandwich bread has about 35 calories.

Have a Filet-O-Fish or a McChicken sandwich instead of a Big Mac. The Big Mac has 540 calories, while the Filet-O-Fish only has 380 calories and the McChicken sandwich only has 360 calories. Get a side salad instead of a medium French fry and you’ll save an additional 360 calories.

For dessert, try Breyer’s chocolate frozen yogurt instead of Haagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream. The Breyer’s only has 130 calories in a half-cup serving, while the Haagen-Dazs has 270 calories.
